1. Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?

I heard a few songs on the radio that inspired me last year, and began singing and taking guitar lessons. I began songwriting and started posting YouTube and Vine videos of me singing regularly. I quickly started to gain followers and the fans inspired me to want to post more.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Pop, soulful and honest.

3. What was it like working on your music video for “Maybe?”

My first ever music video for my song “Maybe” was shot on tour. The video captures some great moments with fans, friends and real experiences from the road. It was a blast shooting it, and half the time I barely noticed the camera was there.

4. Do you have any more original music you will be releasing?

Yes, I’m coming out with a music video to my new song “Lovesick Day” this week. I’ve also been in the studio regularly writing and recording new songs. Can’t wait to share them

5. Who are your musical influences?

I don’t have a specific musical influence. Great artists with great songs inspire me every day.

6. Do you play any instruments?

At the moment the only instrument I can play is the guitar. But I’m definitely interested in learning how to play other instruments soon

7. What can fans expect to see from you in the upcoming year?

More songs and more touring. I can’t wait to meet everyone 🙂

9. Is there anything you want to say to your fans?

My message to my fans is if you have a dream, no matter how far away it seems or how impossible you think it will be to achieve it, go after it. Even though I have a long way to go before accomplishing my dream, I am blessed to have gotten this far. Always remember that anything can happen if you put in the work. None of this would be possible without you guys. Thank you so much for supporting and inspiring me. I hope to meet all of you someday!

 1. How did you get your start in acting?   When I was 10, I started acting in community theater Right after that I was signed by Ford Models in Phoenix where I landed my first commercial acting job/  From there I continued to book print, independent films and commercial work, but we soon realized I needed to get to Los Angeles if I wanted to work on television. When I was 12, we moved to LA and that’s when my acting goals really picked up.

2. What is it like being on “The Fosters?”  Being on The Fosters has completely changed my life and how I view people and society.  The show’s creators are so passionate about the story lines and everyone is so talented and nice, it has been an amazing experience. I feel very lucky to have landed such an important part.

3. What was your favorite part of this current season?   My favorite scene in Season 2 would be the movie-theatre, pinky scene.  It was actually a scene that took a lot of thought to make come out so good.  Everything from my breathing rate, to how I held my mouth, and eyes – every part of my body had to become nervous to be able to convey the emotions a 13 year would actually have during such an exciting but terrifying moment.  We took a ton of takes at different angles of our hands, and even how we breathed in and out.  But overall my favorite part of this season has been the response of the fans and how they have embraced Jude/Connor and everything these friends represent.   Amazing to viewers open up about their personal life and experiences, and how we have given them hope that everything in their life will be ok, that they have a change to be normal – that one day they won’t be looked at differently or disseminated against because they are gay or questioning.

4. What can fans expect to see from the season finale?   The finale, will yet again, peel another layer off the Jude and Connor friendship. We will see more raw emotions, face Connors dad and of course gear up the audience for Season 3.

5. Are you working on any other projects at the moment?  I am actually loving my time off right now and playing a lot of club soccer and taking a heavy load of high-school classes. So besides getting ready for The Fosters to start filming the first week of April, I am auditioning, and working hard on getting a movie.

Interview With Rachel Lorin and Damon Marks (@RachelLFilsoof) (@DamonMarks)

19 Mar

1.      How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?

Damon Marks: I worked hard at being the best I could as a guitarist first and foremost. Then from years of hard work, networking and meeting the right people I was able to work with big name celebrities as a guitarist. From there I let my talent do the talking, I was referred around often after that.

2.     You’re a major advocate for music education. Why is that important to you?

Damon Marks: I recall that music helped me through tough times when I was a child.  “It helped me find my friends and get involved and ease the pain I was going through.  If I hadn’t found music, fellow band mates and fans, I might have found drugs or alcohol or who knows what else.  I want kids today to have that same chance to connect to music in such a meaningful, creative way.”

3.     Do you play any instruments?

Damon Marks: Yes I play the Electric, Acoustic and Classical guitar. I also play bass guitar when needed.

4.     What was it like getting to go to schools and give children the gift of music?

Damon Marks: It’s a true blessing being able to give music back to schools, students and communities in need. Music is so universal, it makes up a huge part of all of our every day lives. Being able to go into a school that has nothing and give them brand new guitars, amplifiers, instrument cables and various types of percussion is priceless. On top of that the school gets an 8 to 9 week guitar curriculum that I created alongside Jazz guitarist Rob Michael that offsets the school from having to spend any money.  It has such a positive impact on students along with the social and interactive benefits.

5.     Many of our viewers know you from High School Musical. What was it like working on that project?

Rachel Lorin: I was the youngest cast member in the world premiere of Disney’s HS musical 1 and 2 stage productions and it was an amazing experience. Zac Effron was really nice and the stage settings and special effects in a live show were beyond awesome. I loved the music and the entire cast and made life long friends. The show had a positive message and was received so well by kids of all ages.

6.     Do you have any other upcoming projects you would like to inform your fans about?

Damon Marks: I just released an amazing EP titled “Back To Good”. It’s very pop punk / warped tour type music which the kids can greatly connect with today. It’s up on ITunes and Amazon.

Rachel Lorin: I will be starring in a new tv series as a vampire hunter called NJ Gothic/nightlife. My character name is Raven and filming begins first of April, will be airing on a major cable network. Currently working on my first album to be released sometime this summer. Touring and performing throughout the east coast and south through the summer.
